The Origins of SumoSprings

Would you like a maintenance-free airbag that does not leak? SumoSprings were engineered with this primary goal! SumoSprings provide users load support using an air spring with a progressive spring rate. The progressive property of the spring means you get support when you need it; more support when the spring is under more load. SumoSprings assist to reduce side-to-side body roll, resulting in a more stable, safer driving experience. SumoSprings increase your vehicle’s ride comfort due to their superior damping properties (they absorb and dissipate shock and energy). They require zero maintenance and will never leak.

SumoSprings Rebel

Unlike an airbag, where all of the air is contained within a single or double compartment, SumoSprings are constructed with tens of thousands of tiny, individual, closed micro-cellular urethane air cells. By eliminating a central chamber of air, SumoSprings Rebel kits feature a unique two piece unit allowing unlimited vertical travel for off-road and uneven terrain applications. Traditional airbags restrict this vertical movement and only allow for how far the bag can stretch (typically 10%).

What about Installation Time/Cost?

SumoSprings Rebel kits are all simple bolt-on installations, similar to an air bag installation. The difference is the time/cost saved from not having to install valves, hoses, or compressors required with air bag installations. SumoSprings Solo kits are also simple installations; some kits require absolutely no bolt, they are plug-and-play! Installation times range from 15 minutes to an hour.

  1. Have SumoSprings for 18K Forest River FR3 . Very satisfied. Been told at Camping world Savannah that the bolts have to be re-torqued at 500 miles, Wich ones ? How many foot-pounds ? Haven’t had warranty certificate , do we need it ? Actually they were installed at Kissimmee Camping world store , but the the left front was installed the wrong way, the top part installed at the bottom and vice-versa. Caused a big slide in a rain storm as we entered Georgia. Being from Québec, used to icy roads, corrected the slide and went to the Savannah store were they found and corrected the problem.
    Thank you.

  2. Hello Francois,

Camping World may have told you that as a precautionary measure, however it is not 100% necessary. If you do want to double-check the torque on the SumoSprings bolts though, here are the recommendations:

For bolts that secure the bracket to the frame: 35 foot pounds

For bolts that secure the bracket to the SumoSprings: 25 foot pounds

Carriage bolts: DO NOT torque. Securely tighten, but not too tight, in order to avoid bending the brackets.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you need anything else.
