Which applications require a mounting kit?

The mounting kit is typically used on all vehicles with leaf springs positioned above their axle. However, there are some exceptions to this rule; specifically,

•vehicles equipped with a factory overload spring above the main spring pack
•Ford F250’s and F350 with no factory overloads
•Ford E350’s
•Some Dodge 2500’s

What it does:

The mounting kit has one simple function; to induce minimal preload tension onto the installed SuperSpring. This is done to ensure that when the upfitted vehicle is unloaded, the SuperSprings operate silently.

The 2” tall mounting brackets act as fulcrum points on the underside of the SuperSpring and the shackles at each end of the springs secure it in place; pivoting as load is transferred to the springs. The mounting brackets are bolting to the vehicle spring pack on either end using the u-bolts, cross plates, washers and nuts provided. All nuts provided are nylok self-locking and will not loosen when correctly installed. After installing the mounting bracket, tighten the u-bolt nuts while the vehicle is off the ground. After our springs are installed and the vehicle is on the ground retighten the u-bolt nuts.

Mounting kit options?

SuperSprings produces a single generic model mounting kit that fits all specified applications. The standard leg-length of the u-bolts provided is 4” long. If your vehicles spring pack has had extra leaves added you might require longer u-bolts to complete the installation. Also, some older Chevrolet ¾ ton and 1 ton models have thicker spring packs that require our longer U-bolts. We do keep a supply of 5 ¼” leg-length U-bolts at the SuperSprings factory. Measure the height of your spring pack directly above the axle. If this measurement is greater than 2 ¾” you will need our longer U-bolts.
